Hernandez Intermediate School 5th and 6th graders took part in the Austin Energy Regional Science Fair on the weekend of February 23, 2008, and every SMCISD project received either a first or second place in their category.

“There were over 1,300 projects at the fair,” said Hernandez science teacher Jessica Chih. “The Hernandez students were very excited and worked hard, putting in many hours outside of school to work on and practice for their interviews.” Chih says that there is no state competitions for the elementary division, but the students look forward to competing in future years.

Congratulations to these students. Sounds like they’re on their way to being San Marcos’ leaders of tomorrow.
