Mayor Susan Narvaiz proclaims June as “Hunger Awareness Month” as part of a local, state and national effort to remind citizens that some 35 million people in the U.S. go hungry or have insecure sources of food. The San Marcos Area Food Bank feeds some 7,000 residents each month and the City of San Marcos Women, Infants and Children program serves 9,200 individuals monthly in its five county nutrition program.
