Please sir, may we have some help?

Ms. Snodgrass was absolutely correct in a recent editorial about problems organizers have getting volunteers. As the production of OLIVER! becomes a reality, so does the need for volunteers.
Numerous times I have asked for volunteers to help with construction, set painting, lights, sound, fly system, make-up, costumes, props, and house management. How many volunteers do you think I have had from my many public requests? Honestly, I received some help from cast, family, and friends of cast members, but I have only found one volunteer from my editorial pleas. He knows who he is, and I am grateful.
Now is the time for you, your neighbors, and/or your friends to help make our summer musical OLIVER! a success. If you have time, we need you.
Please consider just the House Management Crew. We are not pre-selling tickets and need four tables of two people each to sell tickets so we can avoid long lines. Frances Breihan is helping with signing people up in 32 slots, but we need people to help with seating and to enforce the no flash or cell phone recording rules during the performances, too.
While I have your ear, I would like to let people know that the San Marcos Performing Arts Association Board of Directors set the price of $15 a ticket. We understand that this is a great deal of money for a few hours of entertainment; however, we believe that if the San Marcos community wants to have live musical theater, it is going to have to help pay for it. Most people have no idea about the efforts involved in producing community theater and how expensive a musical production.
Sometimes I have to ask myself if it is worth it. That question is most easily answered in the eyes of the children. We owe it to our children, neighbors, and ourselves to keep community theater alive!
We start painting the set today, Thursday, June 26, 2008 from 7 - 10 p.m., and I need at least ten volunteers.
I have flyers that need to be distributed and one week left to sell advertising. How many volunteers do you think I’ll get? Call me and I’ll let you know: 353-8122.
