Yesterday, a youth group from Calvary Baptist Church in San Marcos had an accident on I-37 near Pleasanton. The group was returning from Mexico when their 15 passenger van rolled over.

There were 11 passengers in the van. Several received treatment at a hospital in Jourdanton, while three were airlifted to University Hospital in San Antonio.

“Everyone is OK,” said Ken Naquin, Youth Minister for Calvary Baptist, when asked about the severity of the incident.

Naquin said that the accident was caused when a back tire blew out, causing the van to roll. The extent of the damage to the vehicle is unknown, but Naquin remains thankful that no lives were lost and that everyone in the van escaped major injury.

Naquin added “I want to thank everyone for their prayers.”
